football, chearleading, superman & boots

We've been enjoying Caleb's football games. He's on defense mostly, he's on the line across from the ball (nose guard maybe? I don't know football much yet!) and he loves to tackle. He loves that he gets to tackle and won't get in trouble for it (except when he does it at home using his little brother and sister for practice...)

Aunt Jen made Tessa a cheeleading outfit that she just LOVES, she would wear it everyday if I let her. I have let her nap in it... (some things just aren't worth the fight, you know?)

Since Tessa had a fun outfit for the games Jonah decided he wanted to wear his cape *sigh*

Daddy bought Tessa some princess cowgirl boots and we are lucky to get them off her feet! She has napped in them too. They light up when she walks. The first night we gave them to her we took them off her to go to bed, but made the mistake of leaving the boots in her room. Within a few minutes of going downstairs we hear "stomp! stomp! stomp!" from up in her room. What is that? Oh, Tessa has found her boots and is stomping around her room to make them light up in the dark. Ryan took them away and brought them downstairs with him and hid them in the living room. The next morning she had found them and we woke up to her stomping into our bedroom.

...and like usual, they're on the wrong feet!

lots of luck

I love love love when customers give me ideas...a customer asked me if I could stamp the word "lucky" on a penny. So I tried and it worked! What a fun idea! I hung it from some oxidized sterling silver chain and listed it in my Etsy shop.

I am loving birds still, this has been a long winded infatuation for me. I found these sparrows and had to turn them into a necklace, I will be wearing it alot. I didn't know about all of the symbolism of sparrows. They mean:

luck
creativity
simplicity
joy
protection
friendliness
enduring love
freedom

I had no idea those little birds had such symbolism.

I listed one on eBay and one on Etsy.

I'm a lucky girl!!!

I have my first indie craft show coming up in October (more about that later) and I wanted a cute apron to wear to:

a. look cute (most important, lol)
b. keep pens and order forms handy

So I emailed and asked Megan if she'd mind making one and she was up for it, today it arrived and it's GORGEOUS!!! I couldn't love it more :)

(My sweet hubbie, who was outside mowing the yard when it arrived, could see how excited I was and stopped mowing to snap some pics of me wearing it)-

Thank you Megan!!! I will definately be back for more!

all stamped up

So last night as I start to make dinner I tell Jonah and Tessa to go up to their rooms and play. About 10 minutes later I think "they are being way too quiet" (don't we all know, quiet means t-r-o-u-b-l-e!!!) I send Caleb upstairs to check on them and the next thing I know Jonah and Tessa come down like this:

They managed to get down some stamps from the craft closet that were on the almost top shelf (how high is out of reach? I think they are part monkey.) and then stamped their ENTIRE bodies. *sigh* and a few *giggles*

It all came off in the bath :)

sometimes simple is better...

Simply Love, my latest necklace, was listed on eBay tonight. I feel like I cheated on this necklace becasue all I did was find a pretty heart charm and add some chain, not alot of "work" involved. I tried, though, to make it pretty with alot of detail. I added wire, I strung some beads on it, over and over I fiddled with getting it just right. Exasperated (and out of time) I laid the charm down accidently next to some chain...and I loved it. 2 minutes later it was a necklace and I felt like such a cheater! But I think it's cute, and maybe someone else will too :)

Remember when I wanted to "fancy a trade?" Well Toni took me up on it and her beautiful outfit arrived today. Tessa LOVES it, especially the pants- she just loved running around making them swoosh. I made up a little matching button bracelet from the same Flea Market Fancy fabrics and pearls (which I intend to list tomorrow) and then took the kids out for some pics. Here are some fun ones:

the serious side *snicker*

Not a great picture but can you tell she's having fun???

a brush with fame...sort of

I think we've all had a moment of meeting a celebrity whether it's taking a picture with them, having a conversation or just seeing then from afar in real life (not on tv). I have had a few- in junior high a few members of the "Saved by the Bell" cast came to our local mall- including the cute Mark Paul Gosselar. My girlfriend and I went and Mark was on stage with a mic and he told us a riddle that my friend answered correctly, so she got to go onstage to meet him and he gave her a hug- she was so star struck she refused to wash her shirt for months! It just hung in her room on the wall.

Shannon Miller went to my high school, she was a year ahead of me. She was very quiet and so tiny walking around in the hallways. Now, in my hometown Edmond, Oklahoma, she has her own parkway named after her and big "welcome to Edmond" signs that say "Home of Shannon Miller, Olympic gold medalist."

Then in college my soccer team was flying out of California after playing a tournament there and we got a double whopper in one night- first we saw Danny Glover who was in a HUGE hurry with a few big guys hovering around him. He let us snap a few pics and signed a few autographs and seemed annoyed that he'd been spotted- you'd think he'd be happy to be mugged by athletic college girls- sheesh!

Then we found Bob Barker sitting and waiting for a plane. He loved having us all sit with him, chatted away, signed autographs, lots of pics, etc.

So a few weeks ago Ryan and I are flipping through the channels after the kids are all in bed and he catches a glimpse of a girl and flips back to her. He says "that's Erin Tietsort". Erin was a girl we met in college, she and I were friends and she hung out with me and my room mate when I shared an apartment my junior year. "What? No way." The girl looked like her but what the heck would she be on tv for? It was a reality show about a tanning salon on E!, not our typical watch. So we googled "Sunset Tan" and sure enough, Erin is part of the cast. I'm shocked. Have you seen the show? I mean really, I'm shocked. It's not something I can watch with my kids in the room.

Then on Saturday we head to the mall to pick up a birthday present for Tessa's friend at the Disney Store and Ryan spots Erin!!! He's across the way from me and keeps pointing and trying to mouth something (I'm awful at reading lips) so it takes me awhile to catch what he's saying and then I realize. We chatted with her, she was visiting her family and she was amazed at our 3 kids running around us (most of our friends from college are- we rapidly expanded right after college having 3 kids in 4 years!) After we said goodbye to her I told Ryan "Wouldn't it be cool if she wore a piece of my jewelry on the show and happened to "accidently" plug me?" He said "Don't you dare ask." So I didn't. But I hope that this show is just a stepping stone for her, maybe someday she'll be in movies and I can say "I used to have girls nights of movies and brownies with her!"

mothers of boys...

Every Mom of BOYS knows this is TRUE!!!

Find this in my Etsy store with LOTS of new goodies :)

big girl bed

Over the weekend Caleb made a "wish list" of things he wanted to do that day. So we did them all, he was thrilled! One thing was "toys R us" and while we were there, Tessa and I spotted a cute little bed for her...Daddy set it all up for her that night. She loves it and she even picked a new little "blankie", the striped one.

Aunt Jennifer made her the pretty pink and zebra print pillow last year and she insists on having it every night. This picture is from her first morning waking up in her big girl bed, can you tell she likes it?

(did you notice baby frog is back? he's by the pillow!)

I was so excited when I found this green dresser at the Post, my favorite store I could spend HOURS in. It was a great bargain, has sort of a shabby chic look to it (can't really see it in the pic but it's sanded in spots) and looks perfect in Tessa's room. I'm debating painting her room pink, the blue is the color it was when we moved in and is a bit overwhelming. Do I really have time (aka: patience) to paint a room right now...??? I'll probably get to it the same day I get to listing these :)
